STAR Reading Assessment:
STAR assessments are a suite of computer-adaptive tests used in education to measure student progress in reading, math and early literacy. At WRE we do not utilize the Math portion of STAR assessments. They are designed to provide teachers with data to personalize instruction, monitor student growth, and identify students who may need additional support. The assessments are adaptive, meaning the difficulty of questions adjusts based on the student's responses, making the testing process efficient and effective.
The STAR assessment is given three times a year. Students who score in the "red" are considered well below grade level according to district benchmark cut scores. We are committed to reading growth and small group interventions. Therefore, students who are well below grade level (red) will meet with our instructional support teachers daily for approximately 20 minutes. During this time our teachers will monitor students in deficiency areas. The state of Missouri requires students who are below grade level to have a specialized instructional plan prepared. This plan is called a Reading success plan at Warrior Ridge. Parents/guardians will be notified of Reading Success plan status after every STAR benchmark testing window. STAR reports will be sent home with report cards during 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter reporting periods.
